Computer Keeps Freezing?
Continue with the related BACKON guide for the next part of the troubleshooting path.
Read guide →A slow computer does not automatically mean you need a new one. The useful first step is to identify whether the slowdown comes from software, storage, startup load, updates, browser activity or a hardware limitation.
Slowness is a symptom rather than a diagnosis. A computer can feel slow because too many programs launch at startup, the main drive is nearly full, Windows is installing or waiting on updates, a browser has dozens of heavy tabs, or one background process is consuming an unusual amount of CPU, memory or disk activity.
Older hardware can also become the limiting factor. A computer that was comfortable with light web browsing several years ago may struggle with newer applications, video calls and modern browser workloads.
Remote support is a good fit when the computer is usable but noticeably sluggish. A technician can help review startup load, storage use, software conflicts, update status, browser behavior and other settings while you remain at the device.
BACKON should not promise a speed increase before the cause is understood. If the limitation is hardware age, failing storage, insufficient memory or thermal problems, we should tell you that rather than selling repeated software work.
The goal is not to make an old computer “like new” through a magic tune-up. It is to identify avoidable software bottlenecks, remove unnecessary load where appropriate, make updates and settings sane, and tell you clearly if the device itself has become the constraint.
No. Software and configuration work can improve some systems, but hardware age and component limits cannot be fixed remotely.
Often, yes, if it can connect reliably to the internet and stay usable during the session.
Not as a first step. Built-in Windows tools and a careful review are usually a safer starting point.
Describe what is happening, what device you are using and what you have already tried. We review the request before recommending paid remote support.
