New Computer Setup
Continue with the related BACKON guide for the next part of the troubleshooting path.
Read guide →A new PC setup is not complete just because Windows starts. The important part is making sure your files, email, browser data, applications and sign-ins are available before the old computer is erased or retired.
Cloud sync can handle many files if they are already stored online. Large local libraries may be faster to copy with an external drive. Some applications must be reinstalled rather than copied, and licensed software may have activation limits.
Open representative files on the new PC, check recent email, confirm browser bookmarks, test important apps and print a test page. Do not wipe or sell the old device based only on seeing a few folders.
You should type account passwords and MFA codes yourself. If a password manager is involved, make sure you understand its recovery method before decommissioning the old computer.
We can help plan the move, identify what needs to be copied versus reinstalled, configure cloud sync, set up common apps and verify the new system. Physical drive failure, damaged old hardware or very large offline migrations may need local data-recovery or hands-on service.
Not always. Files can often be copied, but applications usually need proper reinstallation and some local-only data requires special handling.
Only after you have verified the new PC and any backups contain the data you need.
We can help with legitimate browser or password-manager migration, but you should retain control of master passwords and recovery codes.
Describe what is happening, what device you are using and what you have already tried. We review the request before recommending paid remote support.
